Flush Fit PVCu Windows & Composite Door Replacement

Flush fit PVCu windows, a bay window, sliding patio door, rear kitchen door and composite front door replaced at this property, creating a modern, maintenance-free finish with improved views and thermal efficiency.

Project Overview

The homeowner’s existing timber windows had reached the point where they required constant maintenance, with several sealed glass units beginning to fail throughout the property. The external cill on the front bay window had also become completely rotten and was beyond repair.

The customer wanted to modernise the property while keeping the new windows in character with the surrounding homes. They also wanted to improve the amount of natural light coming into the house and create clearer views of both the front drive and rear garden.

We replaced 9 windows, 1 bay window, 1 sliding patio door, 1 rear kitchen door and the front entrance door, using modern uPVC flush casement windows alongside a composite front door.

The Work

The customer chose a Rosewood finish externally with Cream internally, retaining a traditional appearance from the outside while creating a lighter, warmer finish inside the home.

The new glass units were finished with square leading, replacing the previous diamond lead design. This gave the property a cleaner and more contemporary appearance while still remaining sympathetic to neighbouring homes. Internally, the Cream frames work particularly well with the customer’s existing décor and gold hardware, creating a coordinated and premium finish throughout the property.

Creating More Light and Better Views

One of the main priorities for the homeowner was opening up the views from the property.

The original front bay window and rear kitchen window included mullions that interrupted the view outside. As part of the replacement, the window designs were changed to incorporate larger picture windows with fewer divisions.

This created a much clearer view of the front drive and rear garden while also allowing more natural light into the rooms.

Overcoming the Challenge

The existing timber frames had deteriorated considerably, particularly around the bay window where the external cill was rotten beyond repair.

Rather than simply replacing the existing windows like-for-like, we worked with the customer to redesign key areas of the glazing while maintaining a style that suited the property. The combination of Rosewood external frames, square leading and carefully considered window configurations allowed the house to retain its character while benefiting from a much more modern installation.

The Result

The completed installation has transformed both the appearance and practicality of the property.

The customer is over the moon with the appearance of their new windows and doors and particularly pleased that they no longer have the ongoing maintenance associated with timber frames. The larger picture windows have opened up views of the garden and front drive, while the Cream internal finish beautifully complements the gold hardware and existing interior finishes. The property now benefits from modern, thermally efficient and long-lasting windows and doors, with a maintenance-free uPVC and composite finish designed to look great for years to come.
